Welcome to my breastfeeding-friendly blog, where I will post tips and tricks culled from the latest evidence and several years of personal experience! I am a married mother of three healthy, smart, and precocious kids who were all exclusively breast-fed, and I am also a practicing physician in the Philippines. Friends and family members have been bugging me to start this blog for years, seeing that breastfeeding has been such an advocacy of mine since the start of my own journey with my three babies.
Funnily enough, I didn’t think I’d ever actually breastfeed when I became pregnant. My brother and I were raised on formula, and it was still mostly the norm seven years ago. But fate put me in the hands of a fervent advocate in the form of my firstborn’s pediatrician, and at first, I just went with the flow. However, the more I read about breastfeeding, the more I became convinced that breast is, in fact, best. My experience so far has borne this out, so I’ve tried my best to keep it going as long as I can. I’ve managed 18 months with my first, 30 months with my second, and 21 months (and counting) with my third.
In this blog, I will attempt to tell you why breast is (mostly) superior to formula, and give you practical tips on how to survive this fraught, confusing, and sometimes painful, but always rewarding, journey. I will also occasionally post about motherhood and parenting in general.
Oh–and the reason the name of this blog is BooBabyBoob is because that’s what my kids say when they want to nurse: “Mama, Boob!”
